Lanaya – The group “Lanaya” (translates as: “trust”) has earned itself a reputation in Berlin’s multi-cultural music scene as being something special when it comes to African bands involved in traditional music. Most of the group’s musicians come from Burkina Faso in West Africa, and they can draw on the rich cultural and musical heritage of the Manding people who live there. The other members, who come from Senegal, Cameroon and Germany, also have a rich cultural and musical background. However, what has enabled the
group to create a sound all of its own, transcending what is normally offered at African drum concerts, is the members’ openness toward each other’s cultural and musical universe, the friendship among them, and the way they involve instruments and stylistic elements from different nations.
Their performances include the world-famous, powerful and furious rhythms, songs and dances of the Manding, and also of other African cultures. The band arranges its whole repertoire using its own methods and drawing on modern styles. With their harmonic grooves and melodies, or African-style rhythmic improvisations, the bass guitars, flutes and saxophone succeed time and again in casting folk melodies – some quiet, some loud, some sad, some merry, and some very ancient – in a completely new light.

Senegambigha – Mohamed Diafoune (Senegal), Ayo Nelson-Homiah (Gambia), Gordon Odametey (Ghana), Ibrahim Alhado / Baba Dango (Ghana), Omar Jobe (Senegal). The group is one of the most famous percussion groups in Northern Germany. They are also known in Berlin´s local clubs and many other German cities for getting the dance floor quickly filled, as quick as lightning flash. The musicians are specialised in many different traditional instruments. The style of music played is, of course, traditional including vocals. We perform with instruments such as Djembe, Doundoumba, Kpalago, Seourouba, Talking Drum, Bougarabou, Flute, Maracas, Balafon, Water Drum and Mouth organ, to mention a few. The combination of the instruments played attracts the audience to invade the dance floor, and that is always a must!!!
